Purpose of the Exhibition
Alongside the technical sessions of PT-16, an industrial exhibition presented new applications in plasma technology to conference participants. The exhibition reflected the conference's focus on energy supply, material improvement, and plasma-based medical applications.
Exhibitors used the setting to engage directly with researchers, engineers, and other professionals attending the conference at the Institut für Biochemie in Greifswald.
The industrial exhibition at the conference acted as a practical companion to the formal scientific sessions, giving attendees a chance to see how emerging plasma technologies are translated into real products and processes. The exhibition floor gathered firms working on energy-related applications, surface and material treatment, and plasma-based medical devices, providing a snapshot of where research meets commercial development. Visitors could compare competing approaches side by side, ask detailed technical questions, and discuss potential collaborations without leaving the event's academic environment.
Exhibitors were given dedicated space to present their technologies, run demonstrations, and distribute literature directly to the international audience of researchers, engineers, and graduate students in attendance. The setting within the host institute encouraged spontaneous conversations, as booth staff often spoke the same technical language as the people walking past. This proximity helped bridge the gap between laboratory prototypes and industrial implementation, allowing smaller companies to receive feedback from potential users while established firms showcased their latest product lines.
Beyond the commercial displays, the exhibition played a quiet but important social role within the broader conference program. It created a relaxed atmosphere for informal exchanges that rarely fit into scheduled talks, helping newcomers find mentors and established researchers identify partners for future projects. Sponsors and exhibitors also contributed to the visibility and atmosphere of the meeting, supporting refreshment breaks and social gatherings that ran alongside the technical program and the cultural activities offered to participants visiting the town.
Industry–Academia Exchange
The exhibition offered a point of contact between companies and the academic community gathered for PT-16, supporting the conference's broader aim of exchanging ideas and experience in plasma technology.
Part of the PT Series Format
An accompanying exhibition was an established element of the PT conference series, of which PT-16 formed part. It complemented the scientific programme organized by INP Greifswald, with support from the Institut für Physik der Universität Greifswald and under the sponsorship of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Plasmatechnologie e.V. (DGPT).
