Breath gas analysis conferences bring together researchers in medicine, physics, and instrumentation around a single shared theme: measuring the trace gases people exhale. The scientific programme for this meeting, held in Greifswald at the Institute of Biochemistry, moved from fundamental breath chemistry to clinical application, with oral presentations, contributed abstracts, and an industrial exhibition alongside the scientific sessions. Invited speakers and colleagues from many countries took part, making it a genuinely international forum for a field that has grown quickly over the past decade.

Getting to the venue was straightforward by road, with the motorway network connecting the city to Hamburg and Berlin before the final approach through the inner-city routes to the university district on the western edge of the old town. Conference parking was provided free of charge close to the Institute, with signage on site pointing participants to the designated bays, though visitors should note that such arrangements applied specifically to the February 2010 meeting and may differ at future editions.

Arriving by rail was equally convenient, since regional and long-distance services link the city with Berlin and other major German hubs, with local buses completing the journey to the campus. For those travelling from further afield, the meeting was held in early spring, and accommodation near the venue and in the surrounding town was booked well ahead of the conference dates. Details on travel, maps, and accommodation were published on the conference website alongside the timetable, social programme, and abstract submission information.
